There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Alessandria FB (2-4) defeated at home higher ranked Cecina (4-3) 81-73 on Saturday. Alessandria FB made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Cecina turnovers. Cecina was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Alberto Serafini (196-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Guard Alfonso Zampogna (186-0, agency: SPORTlab Agency) helped adding 15 points and 5 assists. At the losing side guard Flavio Gay (184-98) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Leonardo Salvadori (198-93, agency: Players Group) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Cecina players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alessandria FB moved-up to eleventh place in B. Loser Cecina dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Alessandria FB will face higher ranked Capo d'Orlando (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
