There was a minor upset when higher ranked Hapoel Holon (2-3) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Hapoel Eilat (2-3) 90-81 on Sunday. Hapoel Eilat looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was international Rafi Menco (200-94) who scored 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). American center Eric Thompson (204-93, college: Pacific) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. American power forward Latavius Williams (203-89) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and international power forward Richard Howell (203-90, college: NC State) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Hapoel Holon's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Hapoel Holon. Hapoel Holon lost their third game in a row. Hapoel Eilat will face Ironi Nes-Ziona (#5) in Nes Ziyona in the next round. Hapoel Holon will play at home against Beer Sheva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
