Regular Season Round 7: Cremona - Cantu 54-78
Date: November 3, 2019
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Cantu and 14th ranked Vanoli Cremona had identical 2-3 record. But Vanoli Cremona was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Cantu 78-54 on Sunday night. Cantu had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cantu made 9 blocks. Quite impressive performance for American-Portuguese Jeremiah Wilson (205-88, college: Tarleton St.) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Wes Clark (183-94, college: Buffalo) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Cantu players scored in double figures. American swingman Wesley Saunders (196-93, college: Harvard) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Croatian center Josip Sobin (203-89, agency: Alti Sport) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Vanoli Cremona. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Cantu (3-3) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Trento and Varese. Loser Vanoli Cremona keeps the fourteenth position with four games lost. Cantu will face Virtus Roma (#12) at home in the next round. Vanoli Cremona will play against Fortitudo BO and hope to win that game.
