The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Soles as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Soles smashed 6th ranked Astros in Mexicali 94-67. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) who scored 16 points and 4 assists. American forward Chris Reyes (201-94, college: Pepperdine) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Soles players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican swingman Angel-Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who recorded 16 points and Venezuelan point guard Heissler Guillent (186-86) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Soles have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Astros dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Panteras. Astros will play next round against strong Aaguacateros trying to get back on the winning streak. Soles will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Angeles in Puebla.
