Regular Season Round 5: Estudiantes - ADBA 106-52
Date: November 3, 2019
There was no surprise in Madrid where 11th ranked ADBA (1-4) was crushed by fourth ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (4-1) 106-52 on Sunday. ASEFA Estudiantes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to ADBA's 28. ASEFA Estudiantes forced 23 ADBA turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by ADBA's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Judy Jones (175-90, college: GCU) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Her fellow American import Leslie Knight (184-86, college: Minnesota) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Deangelique Waithe (183, college: LIU Brooklyn) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Jone Azkue (180-95) added 12 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ASEFA Estudiantes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with RC Celta and Real Canoe. ADBA lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with four games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes will face Patatas Hijolusa (#7) in Leon in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. ADBA will play on the road against Real Canoe (#3) in Madrid and hope to win that game.
