Regular Season Round 5: Lyon - Tarbes 90-51

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Tarbes (3-2) against seventh ranked Lyon (3-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Tarbes was crushed by Lyon in Lyon 90-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tarbes. Lyon dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tarbes' 28. They outrebounded Tarbes 39-18 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lyon players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Tarbes' players. Brazilian center Clarissa Dos-Santos (188-88) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and international Helena Ciak (197-89) accounted for 13 points and 11 rebounds. Lyon's coach Valery Demory felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Tima Pouye (174-99) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and international point guard Marine Fauthoux (173-1) added 8 points respectively for Tarbes in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lyon. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Tarbes. Lyon will play against Nantes Reze (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tarbes will play against Bourges (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
