Regular Season Round 8: Lucenec - Iskra Svit 82-85

The most exciting game of round 8 in the SBL took place in Lucenec. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Lucenec (4-3) to fifth ranked Iskra Svit (4-3) 85-82 in the game for the fourth place. The best player for the winners was American Jalen Nesbitt (198-93, college: N.Florida) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import forward Phil Carr (203-95, college: Morgan St.) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Puerto Rican-American Melsahn Basabe (201-92, college: Iowa) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Iskra Svit and four Lucenec players scored in double figures. Lucenec's coach Peter Jankovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Iskra Svit moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lucenec and Levice. Iskra Svit is looking forward to face higher ranked Prievidza (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Lucenec will play against Levice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
