The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-12. But Crvena Zvezda won second period 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Celje forced 21 Crvena Zvezda turnovers and outrebounded them 51-24 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Crvena Zvezda helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The other American import guard Andreona Keys (178-95, college: Purdue) chipped in 24 points and 9 rebounds. Keys is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Celje's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Masa Jankovic (187-0) who recorded 12 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Ivana Katanic (180-99) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Crvena Zvezda players scored in double figures. Celje have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending Slovenian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Beroe. Crvena Zvezda lost fifth consecutive game. Defending Serbian champion dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Celje's next round opponent will be Partizan (#7) in Beograd where they are favorite. Crvena Zvezda will play on the road against Buducnost in Podgorica and hope to win that game.
