Sao Jose has finally registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Bauru, where they edged Paschoalotto/Bauru (1-4) 98-96. They outrebounded Paschoalotto/Bauru 49-31 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sao Jose players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Paschoalotto/Bauru was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) notched 25 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) supported him with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 27 points, 7 assists and 4 steals by Argentinian point guard Lucas Faggiano (188-89, college: LIU Brooklyn) did not help to save the game for Paschoalotto/Bauru. Canadian Nicholas Wiggins (198-91, college: Z*Orangeville A's) added 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sao Jose left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with Bauru. Sao Jose will play against league's leader Vivo/Franca in Sao Paulo in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play at home against Mogi (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
