Regular Season Round 2: Petrochimi - Mashad 84-43

Date: November 7, 2019
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Mashad (1-1) in Bandar Imam on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by Petrochimi (2-0) 84-43. Petrochimi held Mashad to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 50.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Petrochimi forced 20 Mashad turnovers and outrebounded them 43-23 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Petrochimi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Mashad's players. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Sajjad Mashayekhi (180-94) supported him with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Petrochimi's coach Farzad Kouhian felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points and 4 assists by American point guard Corin Henry (181-88, college: Tarleton St., agency: Agency) did not help to save the game for Mashad. The former international power forward Saleh Foroutannik (207-94) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Petrochimi will meet Raad (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Mashad will play against Gorgan (#1) and hope to win that game.
