Regular Season Round 7: Breakers - United 101-104

The most exciting game of round 7 in the NBL took place in Auckland. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked New Zealand Breakers (2-6) to fifth ranked United (5-4) 104-101 on Thursday evening. United made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 assists. American forward Shawn Long (208-93, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. New Zealand guard Corey Webster (188-88, college: Lambuth, agency: Alti Sport) answered with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Glen Rice Jr. (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) added 26 points (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) in the effort for New Zealand Breakers. Four United and five New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. United have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. New Zealand Breakers lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Taipans. United are looking forward to face higher ranked Melbourne Phoenix (#3) in Melbourne, Victoria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. New Zealand Breakers will play on the road against the league's second-placed Perth Wildcats (#2) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
