Regular Season Round 11: Lahti - KTP Basket 95-98

Important game to mention about took place in Lahti. Eighth ranked KTP Basket (5-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 9th ranked Lahti (4-7) 98-95 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lahti. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But Lahti won second period 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when KTP Basket won last quarter 29-28. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KTP Basket made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Byron Wesley (196-92, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward JayVaughn Pinkston (201-91, college: Villanova) helped adding 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. The former international Vesa Makalainen (200-86) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Jerry Evans (203-90, college: Nevada) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four KTP Basket and five Lahti players scored in double figures. KTP Basket maintains eighth place with 5-5 record. Newly promoted Lahti dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. KTP Basket will face Kobrat (#11) in Lapua in the next round. Lahti will play at home against Kauhajoki and hope to win that game.
