Another interesting game was again a derby match of two teams from Nassau: Bahamas Univ. (#3) and Defenders (#6). Bahamas Univ. (1-0) smashed visiting Defenders (0-2) by 27 points 93-66. Bahamas Univ. dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Defenders' 42. Bahamas Univ. forced 28 Defenders turnovers. Strangely Defenders outrebounded Bahamas Univ. 65-46 including a 31-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Defenders' players. Bahamas Univ. brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Defenders helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Kemsy Sylvestre who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and Romero Cornish (193, college: E.Wyoming JC) supported him with 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Bahamas Univ. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points and 19 rebounds by Gregory Seymour did not help to save the game for Defenders. Rufus Dean added 12 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bahamas Univ. left bottom position moving up to second place, which they share with High Flyers and Abaco Strong. Defenders at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Bahamas Univ.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau .
