There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Tskhum-Abkhazeti (2-2) beat on the road higher ranked Kutaisi (2-3) 74-63 on Friday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-63. Tskhum-Abkhazeti looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Jaylen Franklin (188-95, college: Abil.Christian, agency: One Motive Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) contributed with 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American guard James Milliken (191-93, college: Creighton) answered with 23 points and 6 assists and the former international power forward Beka Bekauri (209-91) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Kutaisi. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Kutaisi at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Tskhum-Abkhazeti's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Mgzavrebi.
