Regular Season Round 8: Xiria - Chantada 56-75

We should not miss the game where sixth ranked Chantada (4-2) against Xiria (3-3) where Chantada won on the road by nineteen points 75-56. Chantada dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Xiria's 24. Chantada forced 22 Xiria turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by Montenegrin center Filip Knezevic (205-94) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Martin Rodriguez (182-96) supported him with 11 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. Four Chantada players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by Senegalese center Alioune Senghor (200-96) did not help to save the game for Xiria. Forward Martin Bello (195-97) added 14 points for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chantada moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with Avila and Gijon Basket. Newly promoted Xiria keeps the seventh position with three games lost. Chantada's next round opponent will be league's leader Carbajosa at home and it may be the game of the week. Xiria will play against Leon (#11) and hope to win that game.
