There was a surprise result in Athens where fifteenth ranked Dafni (1-4) defeated higher ranked Psychiko (3-3) 74-70 on Saturday. Power forward Panagiotis Filippakos (203-94) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Joe Gatzo (199-98) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Dafni left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Tritonas S. Loser Psychiko keeps the seventh position with three games lost. Dafni will face higher ranked Koroivos (#8) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
