Regular Season Round 13: Kagoshima - Shizuoka 108-103

There was a small surprise in Renova where ninth ranked Kagoshima (5-7) defeated 6th ranked Shizuoka (6-5) 108-103 on Saturday. Kagoshima looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Shizuoka was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Shelton Boykin (198-92, college: Angelo St.) stepped up and scored 46 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) chipped in 22 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 26 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Roschon Prince (198-94, college: Detroit Mercy) scored 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Kagoshima maintains ninth place with 5-7 record. Newly promoted Shizuoka keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Kagoshima will face again higher ranked Shizuoka (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
