Regular Season Round 7: Samorin - Dubcek 66-40

Bottom-ranked Samorin managed to get a second victory. This time they outleveled fourth-ranked Dubcek 66-40. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 26-point difference suggests that Samorin is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They held Dubcek to an opponent 23.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Samorin forced 22 Dubcek turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Simona Marcova (184-94) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Center Sona Svetlikova (184-99) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Samorin's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Monika Krajcovicova (183-97) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Alexandra Riecka (169-78) added 11 points respectively for Dubcek in the defeat. Samorin (2-7) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Dubcek. Dubcek lost their fifth game in a row. Samorin will play against league's second-placed Piestanske C. in Piestany in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dubcek will play at home against the league's leader MBK Ruzomberok and hopes to get back on the winning track.
