There was no surprise when 10th ranked Pardinyes-L. (2-7) was crushed on the road by first ranked Girona Basquet (8-1) 84-62 on Saturday. Girona Basquet made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Pardinyes-L. only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Pardinyes-L. 41-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Dutch center Menno Dijkstra (213-97, college: UC Riverside) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Victor Moreno (195-98) chipped in 23 points. Five Girona Basquet players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Wendell Davis (198-95, college: Ashland, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Raul Lobaco (195-0, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Girona Basquet maintains first place in Silver with 8-1 record. Newly promoted Pardinyes-L. dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Girona Basquet will face CB Prat (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pardinyes-L. will play against Albacete (#8) and hope to win that game.
