Regular Season Round 8: La Antigua - Univ.Valladolid 89-85

Everything could happen in Salamanca at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked La Antigua and 10th ranked Univ.Valladolid had identical 2-3 record. This time La Antigua used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Valladolid 89-85 on Saturday night. La Antigua outrebounded Univ.Valladolid 41-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Bosnian Sandro Gacic (201-96) who scored 24 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Serbian center Miroslav Jaksic (211-95, college: Oklah.Christian) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Javier Martinez (187-97) produced 25 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and forward Pedro Gonzalez (195-89) added 21 points respectively for the guests. Four Univ.Valladolid players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. La Antigua (3-3) moved-up to seventh place in Group A-B, which they share with Xiria. Loser Univ.Valladolid stay at the bottom position with four games lost. La Antigua will face league's second-placed Obradoiro S. in Santiago de Comp in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Univ.Valladolid will play on the road against PBB (#3) in Porrino and hope to win that game.
