Fourth-ranked Ibaraki R. (6-10) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Dragonflies (14-2) in Tsukuba on Saturday. The visitors from Hiroshima managed to secure only two-point victory 88-86. However their fans expected easier game. Dragonflies made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Jamari Traylor (203-92, college: Kansas) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Even 26 points by point guard Kohei Fukuzawa (177-93) did not help to save the game for Ibaraki R.. Swingman Josei Maniwa (193-86) added 18 points and 8 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dragonflies have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-2 record. Loser Ibaraki R. keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. Dragonflies will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ibaraki R. will play again against the league's leader Dragonflies (#1) and hope to secure a win.
