Regular Season Round 6: Pozuelo - Barakaldo 39-72

Bottom-ranked Pozuelo (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 72-39 loss to tenth ranked Barakaldo (4-8) in Pozuelo on Saturday evening. They held Pozuelo to an opponent 21.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.1 percent accuracy of the winners and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Barakaldo outrebounded Pozuelo 46-30 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Adedayo Olabode (185-96, college: Texas Tech) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Chilean power forward Catalina Abuyeres (182-97) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Barakaldo players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Irish Leire Martin who recorded 10 points and Rapuluchi Ayodele added 6 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Barakaldo maintains tenth position in Group A with 4-8 record, which they share with Cortegada. Pozuelo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Barakaldo will face Arxil Pontevedra (#12) at home in the next round. Pozuelo will play against the league's second-placed GDKO Bizkaia where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
