Very expected game when 7th ranked Carugate (3-3) was smashed by third ranked Alpo VF (5-1) in Verona 70-40 on Saturday. Alpo VF held Carugate to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Carugate 44-29 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for point guard Sofia Vespignani (168-96) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Veronica DellOlio (185-93) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Power forward Veronica Schieppati (185-90) answered with 8 points and 9 rebounds and Bosnian power forward Natasa Tomasovic (185-93, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Carugate. Carugate's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Alpo VF maintains third place in A2 with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Moncalieri. Loser Carugate keeps the seventh position with three games lost. Alpo VF will face Udine (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Carugate will play against the league's second-placed Bolzano BK and hope to win that game.
