Regular Season Round 8: Huelva - Matenglish 79-69

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Matenglish (1-6) was defeated on the road by second ranked Huelva (4-1) 79-69 on Saturday. Huelva forced 23 Matenglish turnovers and outrebounded them 52-40 including 19 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Huelva made 12 blocks. Matenglish was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Fitzgerald White (201-91, college: Union, KY) who scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Juan Toledo (190-96) chipped in 14 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Daniel Cantero (192-97) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Jaime Macias (190-93) added 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for the guests. Four Matenglish players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Huelva have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group D-B leader, which they share with DKV San Fernando and ULB OH!TELS. Matenglish lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with six games lost. Huelva will face Torta del Casar (#8) in Caceres in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Matenglish will play on the road against the league's second-placed ULB OH!TELS in La Linea and hope to win that game.
