Regular Season Round 9: Jolly J. - Cangeroes 77-73

Bottom-ranked Cangeroes (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-73 loss to fifth ranked Jolly J. (5-4) in Tubbergen. They also forced 20 Cangeroes turnovers and outrebounded them 49-27 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Noelle Droste (177-99) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Point guard Jade Brughuis (174-3) contributed with 28 points for the winners. Renee Hoveling (186-94, college: MCC Toronto) answered with 26 points and 9 rebounds and Spanish forward Nicole Murugarren (188-96, college: Idaho St.) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Cangeroes. Cangeroes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jolly J. maintains fifth place with 5-4 record. Cangeroes lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. Jolly J. will play against higher ranked Grasshoppers (#4) in Katwijk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cangeroes will play on the road against Den Helder (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory.
