Regular Season Round 8: AZS UW - AZS Start 2 106-108

A very close game took place in Warszawa between AZS Start II and AZS UW. Second ranked AZS Start II (6-1) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked AZS UW (3-5). AZS Start II managed to escape with a 2-point win 108-106 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. AZS Start II looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by AZS UW's players. The winners were led by point guard Krzysztof Wasowicz (183-94) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and swingman Karol Obarek (194-93) supported him with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by guard Hubert Stopierzynski (183-97) did not help to save the game for AZS UW. Hubert Milak (188-98) added 21 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Four AZS Start II and five AZS UW players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AZS Start II have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 6-1 record behind leader Wisla Krakow, which they share with Dziki Wwa. Newly promoted AZS UW dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Ostrow Mazow.. AZS Start II will meet LKS Lodz (#6) on the road in the next round. AZS UW will play against Zubry in Bialystok and hope to secure a win.
