The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Vivo/Franca as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Vivo/Franca defeated 13th ranked Sao Jose in Sao Paulo 95-90. They outrebounded Sao Jose 36-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Vivo/Franca looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Sao Jose helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International forward Lucas Silva (209-95) fired 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. The former international Lucas Cipolini (206-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) chipped in 20 points. Argentinian point guard Diego Figueredo (185-91) produced 23 points and 6 assists and center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sao Jose's coach Paulo Cezar Martins tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Vivo/Franca (6-0) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Sao Jose at the other side dropped to the fourteenth place with five games lost. Sao Jose will play next round against strong UniFacisa trying to get back on the winning streak. Vivo/Franca will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Paulistano. It will be extra interesting game as Paulistano is their local rival from Sao Paulo.
