Regular Season Round 6: Ragusa - Venezia 83-60

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Venezia (5-1) on the court of top-ranked Ragusa on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Ragusa 83-60. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Venezia. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Ragusa dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Venezia's 28. Ragusa forced 20 Venezia turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Dearica Hamby (191-93, college: Wake Forest, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Romanian-American power forward Ashley Walker (187-87, college: California) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Latvian center Anete Steinberga (190-90, college: UTEP, agency: LBM Management) replied with 11 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Jolene Anderson (173-86, college: Wisconsin) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Venezia. Venezia's coach Giampiero Ticchi gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ragusa (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Venezia at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with San Martino and Schio. Ragusa are looking forward to face Vigarano (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Venezia will play against Battipaglia (#14) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
