Regular Season Round 8: ToPo - Kouvot 83-90

An interesting game for Kouvottaret (8-0) which played road game in Helsinki against 4th ranked Torpan Pojat (4-4). Top-ranked Kouvottaret managed to get a 7-point victory 90-83. The guests were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 29-21 run, which allowed them to win the game. Kouvottaret made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Kouvottaret outrebounded Torpan Pojat 44-30 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Torpan Pojat's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Ugandan power forward Claire Lamunu (185-93, college: Vanguard) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and American swingman Camille Zimmerman (184-95, college: Columbia) who added 22 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals during the contest. American guard Alex Louin (183-96, college: Villanova, agency: Promo Sport ID) responded with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Magdalene Agyei (176-99) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kouvottaret have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Torpan Pojat at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Espoo Team and Catz. Kouvottaret will play against Tapiolan Honka (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Torpan Pojat will play against Catz Lappeenranta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
