Regular Season Round 14: Kagoshima - Shizuoka 93-95

A very close game took place in Renova between Shizuoka and Kagoshima. Sixth ranked Shizuoka (7-5) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Kagoshima (5-8). Shizuoka managed to escape with a 2-point win 95-93 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kagoshima. Shizuoka looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Kenta Ito (178-89) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists during the contest. Five Shizuoka players scored in double figures. American forward Shelton Boykin (198-92, college: Angelo St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Kagoshima's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Shizuoka maintains sixth position with 7-5 record. Loser Kagoshima keeps the ninth place with eight games lost. Shizuoka will meet at home league's leader Toyoda Gosei in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kagoshima will play against Tokyo CR (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
