Regular Season Round 8: Martos - Novaschool 73-67

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Martos (3-3) won against at home one of their biggest challengers Novaschool (4-2) 73-67 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was David Melero (-91) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Gaston Zalazar (-96) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Martos' coach Antonio Navas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Salvador Mendez (187-90) produced 19 points and center Anastasio Vazquez (204-92) added 5 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Martos moved-up to fourth place in Group D-A, which they share with Almeria and La Zubia. Loser Novaschool keeps the third position with two games lost. Martos will face Almeria (#6) on the road in the next round. Novaschool's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Malaga to the arena Unicaja-Andalucia.
