Regular Season Round 8: Virtus BO - Treviso 84-79

Serie A top team - Virtus BO (8-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked Treviso (3-5) in Bologna 84-79. Virtus BO shot 20 for 29 from the free-throw line, while Treviso only scored three points from the stripe. Treviso was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Serbian guard Stefan Markovic (198-88) who scored that evening 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: PFW) supported him with 20 points. Five Virtus BO players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds by Tongan-New Zealand forward Isaac Fotu (203-93, college: Hawaii) did not help to save the game for Treviso. American-Polish guard David Logan (182-82, college: Indianapolis) added 16 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Virtus BO have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Newly promoted Treviso dropped to the fourteenth place with five games lost. Virtus BO will play against Trieste (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Treviso will play against Brescia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
