Regular Season Round 7: Stjarnan - Valur 83-79

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Stjarnan (5-2) defeated at home 7th ranked Valur (3-4) 83-79. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Valur won third quarter 27-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stjarnan made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Tomas Hilmarsson (201-95, college: Francis Marion) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Croatian-American guard Nick Tomsick (185-91, college: Fort Lewis) accounted for 19 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. International guard Frank Booker (191-94, college: S.Carolina, agency: Inception Sports) came up with 29 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and the former international guard Pavel Ermolinskij (202-87) added 6 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Valur in the defeat. Stjarnan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with KR and Tindastoll. Valur lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Stjarnan's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Thor AK (#12) in Akureyri and are hoping to win another game. Valur will play on the road against Grindavik (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
