There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Timberwolves (7-5) were smashed by fifth ranked Wizards (3-7) in Washington 137-116 on Friday. Wizards dominated down low during the game scoring 88 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 62 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Wizards forced 20 Timberwolves turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists. Quite impressive performance for Bradley Beal (196-93, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 10 assists. German forward Moritz Wagner (211-97, college: Michigan) contributed with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. Dominican-American power forward Karl-Anthony Towns (213-95, college: Kentucky) answered with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) and forward Robert Covington (206-90, college: Tennessee St.) added 20 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) in the effort for Timberwolves. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wizards maintains fifth place with 3-7 record. Loser Timberwolves dropped to the second position with five games lost. Wizards will have a break next day. Timberwolves will play on the road against the league's leader Rockets in Houston and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
