A very close game took place in San Antonio between Magic and Spurs. Fourth ranked Magic (5-7) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Spurs (5-7). Magic managed to escape with a 2-point win 111-109 in the fight for the second place. Magic made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while Spurs only scored six points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. French Evan Fournier (198-92) nailed 26 points for the winning side and Nigerian-American forward Al-Farouq Aminu (206-90, college: Wake Forest) accounted for 13 points and 13 rebounds. Swingman DeMar DeRozan (201-89, college: USC) came up with 21 points and 5 assists and power forward LaMarcus Aldridge (211-85, college: Texas) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively for Spurs in the defeat. Five Magic and four Spurs players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Magic moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Spurs. Spurs lost fourth consecutive game. Magic will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Spurs will play against Trail Blazers in Portland and hope to secure a win.
