Regular Season Round 8: King - Enea Astoria 85-87

A very interesting game took place in Szczecin. It ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked Wilki Morskie (5-3) to eleventh ranked Enea Astoria (3-5) 87-85 on Friday evening. Strangely Wilki Morskie outrebounded Enea Astoria 41-26 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was point guard AJ Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Kris Clyburn (198-96, college: UNLV) chipped in 21 points. Enea Astoria's coach Artur Gronek used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: NC State) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and forward Cleveland Melvin (203-91, college: DePaul) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Wilki Morskie players scored in double figures. Enea Astoria moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Wilki Morskie at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Enea Astoria's next round opponent will be higher ranked Asseco Arka (#6) in Gdynia and it may be quite challenging game. Wilki Morskie will play on the road against Stelmet Enea BC in Zielona Gora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
