Regular Season Round 11: Umea - Norrkoping 86-94

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Norrkoping Dolphins and 9th ranked Umea had identical 2-7 record. But Umea was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Norrkoping 94-86. It looked good early as Umea took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. Then Norrkoping Dolphins had a 26-19 second period charge getting the lead and Umea was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-94. Norrkoping Dolphins players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Swingman Anes Zekovic (195-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Ladarien Griffin (198, college: St.Bonaventure) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Norrkoping Dolphins' coach Mikko Riipinen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Georgio Milligan (188-90, college: Franklin & Marshall) answered with 21 points and 6 assists and American forward Rodney Williams (201-93, college: Drexel) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Umea. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Norrkoping Dolphins maintains seventh place with 3-7 record. Umea lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Norrkoping Dolphins' next round opponent will be higher ranked Wetterbygden (#4) in Huskvarna and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Umea will play on the road against Boras Basket (#3) and hope to win that game.
