Regular Season Round 5: Giants - High Flyers 97-69

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Giants as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Giants smashed 3rd placed High Flyers in Nassau 97-69. They outrebounded High Flyers 55-44 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Giants looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Giants made 7 blocks. Adam Johnson orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. The former international guard DShon Taylor (196-93, college: Norfolk St.) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Giants players scored in double figures. Jeremy Neely answered with 12 points and 4 assists and Dave Davis added 7 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for High Flyers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Giants have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Rockets. Newly promoted High Flyers keep the third place with one game lost. High Flyers will play next round against strong Uptown Cuts trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau - Uptown Cuts. Giants will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
