Rather predictable result when first ranked Heat (9-3) won against 5th ranked Pelicans (3-9) in New Orleans 109-94 on Saturday. Heat dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Pelicans' 42. They outrebounded Pelicans 46-31 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Heat looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Swingman Jimmy Butler (201-89, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Bam Adebayo (208-97, college: Kentucky) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Canadian guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker (196-98, college: Virginia Tech) replied with 27 points and guard ETwaun Moore (193-89, college: Purdue) added 18 points and 5 assists in the effort for Pelicans. Five Heat and four Pelicans players scored in double figures. Pelicans' coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Heat have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-3 record, which they share with Milwaukee B. Loser Pelicans keep the fifth place with nine games lost. Heat will have a break next day. Pelicans will play on the road against Warriors (#5) in Oakland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
