Regular Season Round 9: Puerto Sagunto - Lliria 46-53

Very predictable result when second ranked Lliria (6-1) won against 7th ranked Puerto Sagunto (1-6) in Gilet 53-46 on Saturday. Lliria forced 19 Puerto Sagunto turnovers. It was a good game for center Alejandro Vera (202-97) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Vicente Faubel (182-83) contributed with 8 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Lliria's coach Alejandro Mesa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Carlos Sales (194-98) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and Cuban center Jonathan Merencio (204-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Puerto Sagunto. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Lliria. They keep a position of Group E-A leader, which they share with Castello II. Puerto Sagunto lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh place with six games lost. Lliria will face league's leader Castello II at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Puerto Sagunto will play against Valencia-2 (#4) and hope to win that game.
