The most surprising game was the first loss of Vivo/Franca (7-1) in Sao Paulo on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked Paulistano (6-2) 92-89. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Vivo/Franca. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 27-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Vivo/Franca 36-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. International point guard Yago Santos (178-99) contributed with 17 points and 9 assists for the winners. Five Paulistano players scored in double figures. International forward Lucas Silva (209-95) replied with 20 points and the former international center Rafael Hettsheimeir (206-86) added 23 points in the effort for Vivo/Franca. Paulistano have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with UniFacisa. Vivo/Franca at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Paulistano is looking forward to face SKY/Basquete (#15) in Aldeota in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vivo/Franca will play on the road against Brasilia (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
