Regular Season Round 9: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Cholet 82-83
Date: November 16, 2019
Sixteenth-ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (2-7) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Cholet Basket (7-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Cholet managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for Greek power forward Chris Horton (203-94, college: Austin Peay) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American point guard Michael Stockton (185-89, college: Westminster, UT) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. Five Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. Dutch center Nicolas de-Jong (210-88) answered with 23 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American guard Tyrus McGee (188-91, college: Iowa St., agency: Alti Sport) added 16 points in the effort for Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's coach Laurent Vila tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Cholet Basket. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Dijon. Pau-Lacq-Orthez lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Cholet Basket will face JDA Dijon (#4) at home in the next round. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against Gravelines-Dunkerque (#8) and hope to win that game.
