Regular Season Round 16: Akita NH - Shimane SM 72-81

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Shimane Magic (6-10) beat on the road one of their biggest challengers Akita Happinets (9-6) 81-72 on Sunday. Shimane Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American center Brian Qvale (208-88, college: Montana) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) contributed with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-89, college: Ferris St.) replied with 25 points and 7 rebounds and American-Panamanian center Javier Carter (203-91, college: S.Alabama) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Akita Happinets. Akita Happinets' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shimane Magic moved-up to fifth place. Loser Akita Happinets keep the fourth position with six games lost. Shimane Magic will have a break next round. Akita Happinets will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
