Regular Season Round 9: Ardoi - Zarautz 72-61

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Zarautz (4-3) lost to sixth ranked Ardoi (5-3) in Zizur Mayor 61-72 on Sunday. Ardoi dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Zarautz's 22. Ardoi forced 21 Zarautz turnovers. It was a good game for naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican forward Rafa Matos (191-83) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Swingman Eneko Juarros (193-98) answered with 10 points and forward Julen Egana (193-96) added 11 points in the effort for Zarautz. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ardoi. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A-A. Newly promoted Zarautz dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Ardoi will face Goierri (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zarautz will play against Valle de Egues (#12) and hope to win that game.
