Regular Season Round 7: Iraurgi - Estudiantes 61-102

Very expected game when 9th ranked Iraurgi (5-5) was smashed by second ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (9-1) in Azkoitia 102-61 on Sunday. ASEFA Estudiantes dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Iraurgi's 30. ASEFA Estudiantes forced 26 Iraurgi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for forward Gracia Alonso-de-Armino (180-92, college: Freed-Hardeman) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American guard Judy Jones (175-90, college: GCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 10 steals for the winners. Five ASEFA Estudiantes players scored in double figures. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Canadian swingman Jessica Fequiere (180-93, college: Albany) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Intza Lizarazu (171-91) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Iraurgi. ASEFA Estudiantes have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of Group A leader. Loser Iraurgi keeps the ninth place with five games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes will face Barakaldo (#10) in Vizcaya in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Iraurgi will play on the road against Patatas Hijolusa in Leon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
