Regular Season Round 12: Boras - Umea 92-81

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Umea (2-9) was defeated on the road by third ranked Boras Basket (8-2) 92-81. The game was mostly controlled by Boras Basket. Umea was better in second period 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Boras Basket outrebounded Umea 33-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. Umea was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Icelandic point guard Elvar Fridriksson (180-94, college: Barry) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 7 assists. Forward William Gutenius (205-92) contributed with 22 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four Boras Basket players scored in double figures. American-U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Georgio Milligan (188-90, college: Franklin & Marshall) replied with 28 points and 6 assists and American guard Rashard Odomes (198-96, college: Oklahoma) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Umea. Umea's coach Jesper Gustavsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Boras Basket moved-up to second place. Umea lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Boras Basket will play against Wetterbygden (#4) in Huskvarna in the next round. Umea will play at home against Sodertalje Kings (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
