Everything could happen in Jinjiang at the game between two tied teams. Both sixteenth ranked Sturgeons and 19th ranked Bayi Rockets had identical 1-5 record. This time Sturgeons used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Ningbo 122-101 on Tuesday night. Sturgeons shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Bayi Rockets' players. It was a very good performance for the former international Zhelin Wang (214-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: UNC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 assists for the winners. The former international center Hao Fu (206-97) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and guard Tianyu Xiang (185-92) added 15 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Bayi Rockets. Five Sturgeons and four Bayi Rockets players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sturgeons (2-5) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Bayi Rockets dropped to the eighteenth position with six games lost. Sturgeons will face higher ranked Golden Bulls (#13) in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayi Rockets will play on the road against Leopards (#17) in Shenzhen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
