Regular Season Round 23: Abejas - Astros 102-103

The most exciting game of round 23 in the LNBP took place in Guanajuato. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Abejas (12-9) to fifth ranked Astros (12-12) 103-102 on Tuesday evening. Astros made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Abejas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Abejas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Puerto Rican swingman Angel-Daniel Vassallo (198-86, college: Virginia Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Astros and five Abejas players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Astros went down to sixth position due to points difference. Abejas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
