CBA top team - Guandong Tigers (7-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twentieth ranked Gold Lions (1-7) in Tianjin 140-93. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gold Lions' 40 and made 27-of-31 charity shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Guandong Tigers forced 22 Gold Lions turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Gold Lions were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American swingman MarShon Brooks (196-89, college: Providence) who scored that evening 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) supported him with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Even 12 points and 8 assists by the former international point guard Yi Shi (182-96) did not help to save the game for Gold Lions. Guard Deshaui Shi (192-92) added 14 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Five Guandong Tigers and four Gold Lions players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Xinjiang FT. Gold Lions at the other side stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. They share the position with Bayi R.. Guandong Tigers will play against Brave Dragons (#5) in Taiyuan in the next round. Gold Lions will play on the road against Bayi Rockets (#19) in Ningbo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
