There was no surprise in Renova where 11th ranked Kanazawa (4-14) was defeated by eighth ranked Kagoshima (9-8) 98-89. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Kagoshima outrebounded Kanazawa 47-29 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Kanazawa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Shelton Boykin (198-92, college: Angelo St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) accounted for 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kagoshima players scored in double figures. Point guard Takehiro Yamaguchi (182-94) came up with 32 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Bahamas center Gjio Bain (211-85, college: S.Mississippi) added 21 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for Kanazawa in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Kagoshima. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Saga B.
